According to Loren Cordain, PhD and author of The Paleo Diet, eating similar to our early ancestors can help us lose weight and possibly prevent heart disease and diabetes. According to a study conducted by the Universities of Houston and Pittsburgh, people who followed a Paleo-type diet for eight weeks experienced improvement in heart health and weight loss. The diet focuses on consumption of meats, fish, vegetables, fruits and nuts. Grains, rice, refined sugars, dairy, and processed foods are not allowed. It’s best to start simple with dishes like bacon and mushroom omelets, basil and avocado chicken salad, and salmon patties.
